Van Dijk: “It’s a Disgrace”

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk didn’t mince his words, calling the abuse “an absolute disgrace.”

“These things shouldn’t happen in football—or anywhere in the world,” Van Dijk said after the game. “The only way forward is to educate the next generation. Campaigns alone haven’t been enough to wipe it out.”

He added that he had spoken with Semenyo directly and assured him of full support.

“I am here for Antoine whenever he needs it, and as a club, we will make sure he gets all the backing required,” Van Dijk said.
